Our lone foray into Ireland’s interior – Day 2

Maybe it’s because I’m left-handed, but driving on the wrong side of the road wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. Honestly, it was actually way more fun than I thought it would be. There was definitely some trepidation at first, but after that – and with a lot of help from my copilot – I started to get the hang of it very quickly.

After making our way out of the Dublin sprawl, we headed southwest for our first stop: The Rock of Cashel. The iconic site dates back to the 5th century, while the existing buildings are roughly 800-1,000 years old.

After a bite to eat, we headed off for Kilkenny and were immediately enamored. The town has a ton of charm, and the first thing we did was tour the iconic Killkenny Castle after settling into our room.

Intent on checking out as much of the town as possible given our short stay, we headed into the city center only to be diverted by a an intense band of rain into a pub with lovely live music. (The sacrifices we make.)

As soon as the rain abated, we continued our walk before heading to Restaurante Riunicini for a lovely Italian meal – including arguably the best spaghetti we’ve ever had.

We closed out the evening with a nightcap and some more live music.
