Waterford, whiskey and water views – Day 3

We bid adieu to Kilkenny in the morning and set our sights on Waterford and the coast. Our first stop of the day was a tour a the world-famous Waterford Crystal factory. We then wandered around the city center a bit before fueling up on omelets at The Olive Cafe.

Then it was back in the car, bound for Midleton and another famous Irish export: the Jameson Distillery. The tour focused on the 200-year-old original distillery and how the whiskey was made up until the new facility opened in 1975. Of course, no visit would be complete without getting to sample Jameson, Green Spot and Redbreast.

We closed out the day by skirting Cork on the way to Kinsale – widely known as the food capital of Ireland. Our hotel room had a great view of the harbor, and after checking in, we took in the quaint streets on the way to a nice meal and some more live music.
