After an uneventful, but long, day of travel, we arrived in Dublin around 8 a.m. local time. What a sight to see the Emerald Isle in all it’s glory as we broke through the clouds on our descent into the airport – dozens of beautiful shades of green as far as the eye could see.
We dropped our suitcases at the Arthaus Hotel and wandered around the nearby – and peaceful – St. Stephen’s Green for about an hour. Dublin clearly got the message we had arrived – the weather was 70 degrees and mostly sunny. Then we got the call every traveler dreams of: your room is ready early. And by early, 10:15 a.m. early!
So we took full advantage by grabbing a quick nap. Then it was off to lunch at Bewley’s followed by a tour of stunning St. Patrick’s Cathedral. After another catnap, we ventured to the iconic Temple Bar for our first taste of live music and a couple of pints before our laid-back dinner at Gallagher’s Boxty House.

A long day of travel calls for an early night. Tomorrow is a big day as we call on St. Christopher, the traditional patron saint of travelers, ahead of the rental car pick-up and eight days of driving on the wrong side of the road around across the southern half of Ireland.
